Here are some of our favorite places to hang out on the Internet. This is where the 18th Century meets the 21st Century.
Suppliers ("Suttlers")
Jas. Townsend and Son. Based in Indiana, Townsend's is the biggest supplier in the business. Shop on-line, excellent, fast service. The historical accuracy of some items is a bit dodgy, though.
Loyalist Arms and Repairs. Our favoured supplier of muskets, swords, and accessories. Shop in person at 10 Brunt Road, Harrietsfield, HRM. Phone in advance: (902) 479-0967.
C & D Jarnagin Company. Based in Mississippi, products are of very good quality, but be prepared to wait 6 - 8 weeks for delivery.
Najecki Reproductions. Based in Rhode Island, supplies a wide range of yard goods, hats, and accoutrements. Order forms must be printed as .pdf files and mailed with money order. Excellent service.
The Discriminating General / Military Heritage. Based in Ontario, and have a good reputation for their muskets and swords. Fast delivery, but other aspects of service are pretty spotty. Don't bother emailing questions or enquiries, phone or fax only.
G. Gedney Godwin. Based in Pennsylvania, has a wide range of suberb products. Very good service and quick delivery. Order on-line with credit card.
Wm. Booth, Draper. Carries a wide range of yard goods. Based in Wisconsin, very good service and delivery. New on-line ordering.
Smoke and Fire Company. Based in Ohio, carries a wide range of odds-and-ends, some not very historically accurate. A great place for browsing, and very good service.
Track of the Wolf, Inc. Based in Minnesota, with a huge selection of muskets and shooting accessories. on-line ordering, excellent service.
The Recollections of J.P. Ryan. You can buy your Regimental Coat pattern directly from the source. Also has very well respected patterns for other men's and women's clothing.
Living History and Re-enacting Groups
Reenactor.net, the Worldwide Online Home of Reenacting. Lots of great stuff here on all periods.
His Majesty's 40th Regiment of Foot. Our sister group based in New England, re-enacting the Light Company of our Regiment during the American Revolution.
Hopson's Grenadiers. One reason we don't re-enact the Grenadier Co. is that someone else is already doing it. Affiliated with The Discriminating General / Military Heritage.
Pulteney's 13th Reg't. of Foot. Based in the U.K., one of the few units re-enacting close to our period. Interesting stuff.
King's Orange Rangers. Based in Liverpool, NS and re-enacting a Loyalist unit of the American Revolution. Still going, but their website hasn't been updated in many years.
Compagnie LeBoeuf. Based in Pennsylvania, and re-enacting one of the Compagnies Franches de la Marine, the main French forces in all the colonial wars.
Military Re-Enactment Society of Canada / Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada. These folks do War of 1812 stuff, but lots of great links and info.
The First Royal Regiment of Foote. The Royal Scots, or "Pontius Pilate's Bodyguard". Based in Missouri, this group has an excellent website that we can only aspire to.
Histrenact. Based in the UK, with lots of links to other living history groups around the world.
